Off-Grid Appliance Market Survey
Efficiency for Access is a global coalition working to promote high performing appliances that enable access to clean energy for the world’s poorest people. It is a catalyst for change, accelerating the growth of off-grid appliance markets to boost incomes, reduce carbon emissions, improve quality of life and support sustainable development.
As part of this collective work, the Efficiency for Access Coalition undertakes a bi-annual market survey to better understand the global market of off-grid clean energy system-compatible appliances (“off-grid appliances”) for household, productive and healthcare applications. This year, the Efficiency for Access Coalition has partnered with Sustainable Energy for All for the survey, which has evolved to reflect our learning and market priorities.
The first report provided unique global insights on the relative demand and potential impact of a variety of appliances. In 2018 gender dynamics and healthcare appliances were added to the survey to provide further nuance of appliance demand and impact in with these crucial lenses. This year, the report will evolve to include consumer voices as a crucial stakeholder as well as a reflection on the demand posed by the current global health crisis.
This research informs technology prioritization of the Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) Programme and helps market actors throughout the energy access value chain make better-informed decisions with regard to off-grid appliances. The survey will close May 15 and be analyzed and published by August 2020.
The closing date for survey responses is 15 May 2020.
