This Master of Science in Renewable Energy Access will be a two-year multidisciplinary programme Faculty of Agriculture and Environment / Department of Biosystems Engineering. It aims to develop graduates with diverse competencies in renewable energy specific to the energy access sector. To achieve this students will be equipped with sound technical knowledge related to technologies such as mini hydro, biomass, solar, wind and storage, as well as business and entrepreneurial competencies.
The programme places a strong emphasis on producing well-rounded and workplace ready graduates, and therefore includes a 5 week work placement as part of its curriculum. This placement will be with a local organisation in the energy access sector and will give students the opportunity to acquire practical skills, improve their professional network, as well as strengthen the relevance of their dissertation.
This programme aims to contribute to the human resources required for Uganda to achieve its strategic development goals stipulated in Vision 2040 and Sustainable Development Goal SDG 7.
