Trainee position: Renewables for rural electricity access in Sub-Saharan Africa

As the science and knowledge service of the Commission, the mission of Joint Research Centre is to support EU policies with independent evidence throughout the whole policy cycle. The JRC is located in 5 Member States (Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain).
Clean energy, and in particular renewable energy, is a key to achieving Energy Union targets and the UN sustainable development goals. We offer a trainee positon with a team of JRC experts analysing technical and non- technical aspects that impact uptake of renewable energy technologies. The work has a particular focus on the use of geospatial data and of interactive online tools to support policy makers and provide information to all stakeholders. The work will focus on renewable resources and socio-economic factors impacting electricity access in rural Sub- Saharan Africa.
Candidates should be a recent graduate in a relevant field of science, engineering or economics, or be preparing a thesis at Masters or PhD level on the relevant fields.
