DATE: 26 July 2023
TIME:10:30 AM – 12:30 PM CET
RES4Africa Foundation strongly believes in the potential of Africa’s youth to create unprecedented impact, with their solutions to challenges belonging to the energy and environmental sectors. This would not only result in a great degree of innovation, but also in a greater amount of climate resilience and social change for the African continent.
As such, RES4Africa Foundation in collaboration with Enel Green Power (EGP) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), is currently holding the fourth edition of the RES4Africa Academy’s Young Talent of the Year Award (former MGA Award), aiming at supporting African youth’s start-ups, projects and entrepreneurial ideas with financial aid, visibility, and mentoring opportunities.
This year, for the fourth time, the RES4Africa Academy called young innovators to submit their project ideas addressing these themes :
1. Entrepreneurship: proposals that foster innovation through start-up and entrepreneurial initiatives in the RE sector.
2. Renewable energy solutions: proposals that present ground-breaking ideas or prototypes as relevant to Productive Uses of Energy, Water-Energy-Food Nexus, Electric Mobility and Circular Economy (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
3. Women empowerment: proposals that contribute to the empowerment of women and their involvement in the RE sector.
4. Youth empowerment: proposals that promote and foster the involvement of young people in the RE sector.
5. Climate change: proposals that contribute to creating awareness and winning the fight against climate
change, with a focus on reducing emissions, waste and deforestation in rural areas.
6. Advocacy: proposals that contribute to increasing public interest and awareness on clean energy
access and RE solutions production and discussion, ensuring and promoting a long-lasting impact.
7. Social impact: proposals that drive social impact (health, education, economic development, etc.) by cost-benefits fair distribution among community stakeholders, generating additional social value
Out of many applications, the best projects were selected. Young innovators from Africa are now called to present their initiatives in a dedicated public event.
