Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is a private university in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established in 1993 under the Private University Act, 1992, and now has 10,000 students, 11,556 alumni, and 401 faculty members (of which 70% of them have North American PhDs). The campus is spread over three and a half acres and boasts facilities such as an amphitheater, a library, laboratories, and more than 120 classrooms. IUB has academic research collaborations with a number of universities including Harvard University, Stanford University, and the University of Colorado.

IUB is the only university in Bangladesh that was shortlisted in the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards 2020 for student recruitment campaign of the year. According to the world university rankings of THE, IUB stands within 400th universities globally in terms of various aspects of impact analysis.

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is a public university based primarily in Malaysia, and was initially established to help rural Malays in 1956 as the Rural & Industrial Development Authority Training Centre, and opened with around 50 students. It has since grown into the largest institution of higher education in Malaysia as measured by physical infrastructure, faculty and staff, and student enrollment.
