EVENT:
Webinar on Including a Gender- and ‘Leaving No One Behind’ Principle in Research
DATE:
26 April 2023
TIME:
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM GMT+2
You are invited to the ADA Master Class Webinar which will focus on including gender sensitive perspectives in the different phases of research. The webinar will be useful to all scholars, master’s, PhD, as well as more established researchers who wish to reflect with a broad group of scholars on each stage of the so-called research circle and what a gender- and intersectionality-sensitive approach can mean.
Prof Veerle Draulans will delve into the subject of “Including a gender and ‘Leaving no one behind’ principle in research” by discussing the first so-called ‘3 fix model’ (L. Schiebinger): fix the numbers, fix the organisation, fix the knowledge. Attention to each of these aspects is needed in a strategy for change.Prof Draulans will offer critical reflections on the risks of gender-blind research. Intersectionality as a core concept will be illustrated from numerous concrete research examples. Beyond this practical information the webinar promises to include a discussion on how each stage of a research project can be made gender- and intersectionality-sensitive.
The webinar is not only aimed at researchers doing very specific gender research, where gender is the subject-matter (of course, you are welcome too!) but scholars from all disciplines (i.e., architecture, engineering, medicine, social sciences, physics or humanities).
