TEA-LP honoured by European Solar Prize 2023
Each year EUROSOLAR awards the European Solar Prize to internationally important role models and pioneers in the practical application of renewable energy, bringing a wide variety of energy transition actors from all parts of society into the public eye.
This year’s award winner’s ceremony was held on February 23, 2023 at the Aula Magna of the Sapienza Università in Rome. The event started with an official welcome ceremony and greetings and opening speeches by EUROSOLAR President Prof. Peter Droege and EUROSOLAR Vice President Prof. Eliana Cangelli. This was followed by a panel discussion on Rome’s and Italy’s path to energy transition. Guests included Alessandra Capuano, Director of the Institute of Architecture and Design at Sapienza University, Rome; Luciana Castellina, politician and journalist; and Federico Butera, Professor Emeritus at the Polytechnic University of Milan.
The awards were then presented to eleven projects in ten categories. TEA-LP was recognized for its innovative approach to educating young people who will drive the sustainable transformation to renewable energy on the African continent. Our current TEA-LP partner universities are implementing new innovative postgraduate curricula in Africa, offering students the opportunity to develop skills and expertise sorely needed to advance Africa’s development through sustainable energy access.
Leslie Ashburner, Project Manager of TEA-LP, received the award on behalf of TEA-LP, from EuroSolar President, Prof. Peter Droege.
