Dr Shree Raj Shakya
Transforming Energy AccessShree Raj Shakya is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University (TU) in Nepal. Presently he is serving as Director of the Center for Energy Studies, IOE, TU for his second tenure. During his affiliation with IOE since 2003, he served as the Coordinator of MSc in Energy Systems Planning and Management. He was a fellow in 2021 and an Affiliate Scholar in 2022 at the Research Institute for Sustainability – Helmholtz Centre Potsdam (RIFS), formerly the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS), Potsdam, Germany. His research has mainly focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, integrated energy-emission-economy systems modelling, energy economics, low carbon and sustainable development, and co-benefits.
Dr. Shakya holds a Doctor of Engineering in Energy from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand with specialization in Low Carbon Development Strategy. He authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, reports, and proceedings. He contributed to the development of various national policies including Biomass Energy Strategy 2017, Energy Efficiency Strategy 2018, Long-Term Strategy for Net Zero Emissions for Nepal 2021, and Implementation Plan for the Second NDC of Nepal. Dr. Hari Bahadur Darlami
Transforming Energy AccessHari Bahadur Darlami is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University (TU) in Nepal. Currently, he is the Programme Coordinator of the Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering and President of the Nepal Engineers’ Association. He has completed his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering 2001; M.Sc. degree in Renewable Engineering (2007) and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (2019) Tribhuvan University, Nepal, He has done research in Renewable Energy Technology, Energy Efficiency and Energy Planning. He has published research papers in national and International Journals. He has extensive experience in engineering education, research, and appropriate technology development in the context of Nepal. He has good management capacity and is also involved in policy-making. He is a life member of the Nepal Engineers’ Association, member of the Nepal Engineering Council, and member of Tribhuvan University Teachers’ Association. Dr. Nawraj Bhattarai
Transforming Energy AccessNawraj Bhattarai received his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree (2000); M.Sc. degree in Renewable Engineering (2004) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and PhD. degree from Vienna University of Technology, Austria (2015). He is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He is the former Head of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. Currently, he is the Programme Coordinator of the Master of Science in Energy System Planning and Analysis (MSESPM). His research interest includes energy system modeling, engineering economic analysis of energy systems, and renewable energy. He has more than 50 peer-reviewed publications to his credit. Dr. Bhattarai’s awards and honors include the Ph.D. grant (2012-2015) from the Austrian Partnership Program in Higher Education and Research (APPEAR). He has received prestigious academic awards as head of state in the years 2007 and 2015. He is an editor of the Journal of Engineering Issues and Solutions (JoEIS). He is a life member of the Nepal Engineers’ Association, member of the Nepal Engineering Council, and member of Tribhuvan University Teachers’ Association. Dr. Anita Prajapati
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Anita Prajapati is an assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering (IOE), Tribhuvan University (TU). She is working as a Research Associate at the Centre for Energy Studies, IOE, TU. She received her doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, under the scholarship of the Energy and Petroleum (EnPe) Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). Dr. Prajapati’s field of specialization is energy systems modeling, planning, and policy analysis, and has a sincere interest in renewable energy technologies and energy efficiency. She has published research papers in national and International Journals. She contributed to the development of the Long-Term Strategy for Net Zero Emissions for Nepal 2021, and the Implementation Plan for the Second NDC of Nepal as an energy analyst. She was also involved in energy systems planning and modeling at the provincial level of Nepal under the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat (WECS), Government of Nepal, and has experience of more than 10 years in this field. Her experience in the field of energy involved roles at the national and international consultant level, developing and delivering training courses on energy modelling tools, as well as supervising projects. Dr. Anzoo Sharma
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Anzoo Sharma is a research associate at the Center for Energy Studies, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. She is a young energetic electrical and electronics engineer with PhD degree in Energy Diplomacy and MSc in Engineering in Energy Systems Planning and Management. Meanwhile, she is the Director at the Centre for Rural Technology, Nepal, which is one of the renowned NGOs that has been relentlessly working to meet the basic needs and improve the livelihood of rural people through the integration of appropriate rural technologies and required strategies. Currently, Ms. Sharma is handling the development programs and academic research simultaneously and is keenly interested in transposing the advancement in Science and Technology to the grassroots community for transforming lives and livelihoods. She borrows the findings from research around the globe and real-life experiences of the people working in the corresponding sector(s) to design development projects related to climate resilience, access to energy, energy transition, and productive use of energy. Professor Tri Ratna Bajracharya
Transforming Energy AccessProf. Tri Ratna Bajracharya, an esteemed academic and engineer, has made notable contributions in the field of engineering and energy systems. He was Dean at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, and served as the Immediate Past President of the Nepal Engineers’ Association. He has been serving as a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and he served the position of Director at the Centre for Energy Studies for two tenures within the Institute of Engineering. Prof. Bajracharya specialises in energy systems and energy security, with a particular focus on renewable energy technology. With extensive experience in engineering education, research, and project management, he obtained his Doctoral Degree in Engineering from Tribhuvan University in 2007, specialising in Hydropower technology. Recognised as an energy security and climate change authority, Prof. Bajracharya has authored numerous books and published a significant volume of research papers in esteemed international journals.
