Assoc. Prof. Nofri Yenita Dahlan
Transforming Energy AccessIr. Dr. Nofri Yenita Dahlan is an Associate Professor in the School of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, Malaysia. Currently, she serves as the Director of UiTM Solar Research Institute (SRI). She received Electrical Engineering Degree, B. Eng (Hons) from Universiti Tenaga National (UNITEN) Malaysia in 2001, M.Sc. degree from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK in 2003, and Ph.D. degree from the University of Manchester, UK, in 2011.
Her research interest has focused on power generation investment, energy economics and policy, electricity market, energy modelling, renewable energy, energy savings and efficiency. In recognition for her achievements in the fields, she has been awarded a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP) in 2014 from the Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) and Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), U.S. Under these capacities she has trained more than 400 measurement and verification (M&V) practitioners and involved in M&V audit for more than 30 Energy Performance Contracts (EPC) and green technology projects in Malaysia. She also served as policy consultant for United Nation Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) Malaysia Energy Efficiency and Solar Thermal Application (MAEESTA) Project. In this exercise, she developed a Policy Brief titled Solar Thermal Deployment Strategy for Malaysian Industries and led the development of three energy efficiency and conservation guidelines for Energy Commission Malaysia. In rural electrification related project, she has partnered with researchers from the United Kingdom to conduct a research project titled “Facilitating a Just, Fair, and Affordable Energy Transition in the Asia-Pacific” for addressing energy justice dimensions of rural electrification, techno-economic analysis of different business models and policy implications of these combined findings through stakeholder workshops. In 2021, she has been featured as a Women Leaders in Energy and Environment by Young Southeast Asia Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Women’s Leadership Academy Alumni Network.
Assoc. Prof. Azlin Mohd Azmi
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Azlin Mohd Azmi, is an Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, with research interest in the Climate-Energy nexus. She currently serves as the Deputy Director at the Solar Research Institute (SRI) UiTM and holds a certification as a Carbon Auditing Professional from the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), US.
Dr. Azlin Mohd Azmi obtained her PhD and Master’s degree from the University of Western Australia and the University of Adelaide, respectively, and her Bachelor’s degree from UiTM Malaysia. She was involved in the development of undergraduate and postgraduate courses on Carbon Management. Additionally, she engages in consultancy work focused on low carbon and climate resilient city. Her recent work on energy access includes the feasibility study of a hybrid renewable energy system at a conservation park, in collaboration with the Perak State Park Corporations. She is also advocating women in renewable energy through programs like the E-WiRE, which was funded by the Malaysian National Commission for UNESCO.
Assoc. Prof. Mohd Najib Bin Mohd
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Mohd Najib Bin Mohd Hussain holds the position of Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Pulau Pinang. He is also an Associate Fellow at the Solar Research Institute (SRI), UiTM. In 2016, he obtained his doctoral degree (PhD) from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam, and in 2006, he completed his Master’s degree (MEng) in Electrical Energy and Power System from the University of Malaya (UM).
Dr. Mohd Najib has been the recipient of several research grants, including the National Funded Fundamental Research Grant Scheme and ScienceFund, supporting various research projects. He served as a technical expert for the Green Technology Financing Scheme, appointed by GreenTech Malaysia Corporation, from 2015 to 2018. Additionally, he worked as an Associate Consultant for the Kuala Ketil 50MW Edra Solar Project with Total Power Solutions Sdn Bhd, specializing in large-scale solar (PV) power plants. He was also involved in the development of the Net-Energy Metering of PV solar system at UiTM Pulau Pinang Campus.
Beyond his academic and professional engagements, Dr. Mohd Najib has made significant contributions to social welfare. He collaborated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to install solar light systems for rural communities of the Bajau Palahu Ethnic in Kunak, Sabah.
Dr. Mohd Najib’s research interests revolve around Power Electronics Converter, Renewable Energy applications (specifically LSSPV), and Power Quality. He is a member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). Furthermore, he holds the Professional Engineer title awarded by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
