Dr. Naveed Arshad
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Naveed Arshad earned his Ph.D.in Computer Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, focusing on planning-based failure recovery in distributed systems.He is an esteemed Associate Professor at LUMS, a renowned expert in energy and climate informatics, forecasting, and renewable energy integration. With a track record of publishing close to sixty research articles, he has established himself as a leading authority in the field. Dr. Arshad is also the founder of the Energy Informatics Group (EIG) and holds the position of Co-Director at LUMS Energy Institute. His research interests encompass a wide range of topics, including short- and long-term energy demand forecasting, renewable energy generation forecasting for wind and solar resources, energy efficiency, and demand-side management in various sectors. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of PRECON, the most comprehensive open residential energy data collection worldwide. Dr. Arshad’s expertise extends beyond academia, as he has served as a consultant to esteemed organizations such as USAID, World Bank Group, GIZ, and the Energy Department. Through his research, publications, and consultancy work, Dr. Arshad actively contributes to the advancement of evidence-based policy recommendations in the energy sector.
Prof. Nauman Ahmad Zaffar
Transforming Energy AccessProf. Nauman Ahmad Zaffar received his BS (1990) and MS (1991) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Prof. Nauman Zaffar is currently a full-time faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at LUMS School of Science and Engineering. He actively contributes to the Energy Optimization Committee at LUMS and focuses on establishing a research base in the areas of Power Electronics, Smart Grids, and Renewable Energy. His research interests revolve around several key areas, including the development of dc/dc converters for Solar PV applications, dc/ac inverters for grid-tie distributed energy sources, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for industrial, off-grid, and automotive applications. Nauman is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions in these domains. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Nauman has collaborated with various organizations, including PEPCo and Distribution Companies in Pakistan, to propose solutions for Power Distribution management and implement smart load management solutions. Through his work at LUMS, Nauman continues to contribute to the field of Electrical Engineering, focusing on cutting-edge research, technological advancements, and the development of sustainable energy solutions.
Dr. Kiran Siraj
Transforming Energy AccessDr. Kiran Siraj holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Power Engineering from Lahore University of Management Sciences, specializing in LV DC architectures. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at LUMS, dedicated to climate change mitigation technologies, sustainability, and green buildings. Driven by a passion to combat climate change, she focuses on developing indigenous energy solutions for marginalized communities and advocating for the unique needs of women and children affected by climate change. Additionally, Dr. Kiran actively participates in air quality monitoring, campaigns, and research efforts. As an Assistant Professor at Punjab University, she imparts knowledge in power engineering courses. Dr. Kiran is an alumna of the IVLP program, further enriching her understanding of international perspectives and collaborations in her field. She strives to contribute positively towards a sustainable future through her research, teaching, and consulting work.
